Are the proposed releases of UFO, Waysted, Pete coming on?????
Regards from England, Keith

So far so good. UFO will certainly be recorded. Were finishing off the Waysted but were waiting on the hurricane to see if Paul can leave to finish it off before I leave, before I am off for a month or so with Phil and the boys.

Hello Pete. Are you going to record any live shows for DVD release? Do you have any unreleased live UFO footage?

DVDs are being looked into at the moment. Alive in Cleveland is scheduled to be released on majestic Rock (the same label that did The Plot) on September 29th. Ill know more about other releases when I hook up with my collages. There have been several UFO CDs that have come out, NOW AND THEN, BIG APPLE ENCOUNTERS, and a four CD set, coming out in limited edition on Zoom Club.. Look on the internet to get them.

Pete, did you have anything to do with the choosing of Vinnie Moore and Jason Bonham for the new UFO lineup?
Bob Stafford - Brooklyn, NY

I gave my approval and they both gave me a large amount of cash!! (laughs)

Pete, how have you been getting along since the death of your beloved Princess? I saw her at your last Cleveland show - she was a true rock and roll dog - Mike Glaam - Erie, PA

Not very well. Very hard to take. Everyday is a new day with Princess.

How long until you finish the Waysted record? How much of it do you have done?
Pete - London

About half way done. we need to finish some vocals and we need Paul Chapman to play some lead guitar for us - Hopefully this will be in the near future.

Hey pete, congratulations on the new line up. How is the waysted cd coming along ,is it too early for a title or release date? Unknown Sender

The idea is to call it "Greetings from the OK Corral". Still waiting on the release date. The other title is "we need as much money as possible, so will you buy it?"

I was recently at the Iron Maiden, Dio, Motorhead gig on Saturday,August 9th in Columbus, Ohio at the Germaine, and I could have sworn I'd seen you. You were you wearing the red leather pants, and like a soccer type shirt, with a beautiful brunette at your side and some other guy. if it wasnt you, you have an identical twin in the area and I thought that you lived in the area, anyway. Ubnknown sender

Yes you did see me. You must have ben back in the dressing room, where I was getting some wine! (laughs)

Have you ever thought of trying to get on the ozbournes? I am sure you showing up at their doorstep whould make an interesting episode!
graham wilson - parts unknown

Some people say it might make it more exciting.

Once UFO gets back together, will you still record and tour as a solo performer, or with Paul Chapman?
Steve - Houston, TX

Probably everything, but UFO is my priority, of course. I really enjoy doing my solo things, also. It is good, becuase I like to keep things of the highest quality.

I see that Alive In Cleveland is coming out in Europe. Is it going to be released in the US??
Jim Edick - Rutland, VT

Yes, eventually.

Pete, I love the MP3s on your site from your last series of shows with Paul Chapman. Any thought of ever releasing these recordings?\\
Vincent Harris - Clearwater, FL

We look at everything. We want your money!!!

Please can you tell me what type of bass guitar Phill Lynott used in the final thundder and lightning tour in 1983 and onwards with grand slam. ( 20 years i have been searching for one. Regards, Stevev Varah.

I dont know. Ill try to ask Laurence Archer.

Where is the new UFO CD going to be recorded, and when? Are any of the songs written?
Paul - Columbia, SC

Hanover, Germany. In October. The ideas are there. Nothing has been finished.

How about coming to Sweden soon? Theres a festival called Sweden Rock (www.swedenrock.com) that would fit both UFO and Waysted! There is many people who wants to see you over here. Keep up the good work!

Look forward to going to Sweeden. I love Sweeden very much.

Q: Pete - can't tell you how excited I am that Waysted has reformed - it's great to see you playing with Paul again. Speaking of Mr. Chapman, my question is why did Phil select John Norum instead of Paul? Also, how do you feel about this selection? Finally, what is Phil's opinion of Paul as a guitarist (I presumed that they were friends but perhaps that presumption is incorrect). Thank you. William H. Guthrie

A: John isn't in the band. It's still being talked over. Stay tuned.
Phil likes Paul and thinks he is a brilliant guitarist.

Q: Pete, Sabbath bass player Geezer Butler is also a passionate Villa fan. Do you ever run into him at any games?
Are you coming to Scotland on tour? Villa would never have won the European Cup without a bit of help from Jockland! Brian Fraser

A: Becuase I am in the states, no I do not run into Geezer. I do know he likes Villa very much. When UFO goes back on the road, we hope to play Scotland. That period of Villa was a little bit before my time.

Q: One of my favorite UFO songs is Reason's Love. Did you ever record a live version of it? BBC? Or do you know of it on any boots? Cameron

A: Not as far as I know.

Q: hello peter.. i have seen ufo on every occasion they have visited glasgow since "no place to run" tour at the apollo 1980. last two times at the barrowland also. the concerts were always superb & the band always made it a night to remember. my question is with regard to songs not normally featured in the live set. i would love to hear songs such as , love lost love, dreaming, reasons love, a"int no baby, high flyer, profession of violence , this fire burns tonight, among others, on a live compilation cd. it would be brilliant thing to hear these songs beefed up live & i would like to think fellow ufo fans would feel the same. do you have any thoughts on this idea Pete?

A: Definately on the next toure we will be looking at making the set interesting.

Q: I've been a big UFO fan for years now. I mean the Mick Bolton UFO when Phil Mogg didn't think he was Paul Rodgers and when the former Lonesome Crow blonde handsome playboy didn't think he was Jeff's Blues. I think that on your first immortal three Lps you clearly walked among the best proto-punks-anarchist HM band of GB along with Third World War, the Uglies, Edgar Broughton, Family, Hawkwind, Pink Fairies, Deviants, Judy Grind and all that comes with all the young dudes.

Me and some of my friends are willing to know what has become Mick Bolton since he's gone outta space ? He was a killer extraordinary aggressive and bloody guitar player : in other words he was the British Ron Asheton, the heavy metal Robert Fripp, the space rock Tommy Hall.

A: As far as I know Mick is no longer playing. I havent seen him in a long time. I'll ask Phil to keep me posted.

Q: what happen to ufo and is there plans for more plot cds?

A: Theres always a possiblity for The Plot. For the moment, UFO is still being put together. its gonna take time. at the moment I am very involved with Waysted, but I still speak to Phil several times a week about UFO.

Q: What is your favorite American Dog song?

A: I like just about everything they play.

Q: back in 82/83 you had a short stay in ozzy osburne band. how did you get on with the wild ozzy. and why leave after a short time. -- ronan meyler dublin rep of ireland

A: I got on extremely well with Ozzy, I left because I was doing my own band, Waysted.

Q: when are you going to have the plot for sale, other on-line stores like buccaneerrecords have had it for 3 weeks
chris woosley

A: Anytime now. According to the guy I've spoken to, we shoudl have them online very soon..

Q: Can I cheet and ask 2 questions? Second thoughts don't answer that or that will be 3 questions. Firstly, I was really hoping to see you play live in the UK this year with Paul and the rest of the band. Is that a definite non-starter? A: ITS ALMOST CERTAIN.

And finally, what do you think about the appointment of David O'Leary as Villa manager? Cheers.
Phil.

A: Great! I am very excited about it

Q: Bedies yourself and Phiul, who is definate in the UFO lineup. A: Paul Raymond. Who are you considering for drummer and guitarist. A: I can't say at the moment. Were watiting on somebody very special.

Posted April 29, 2003

Q: HEY PETE HOWS IT .... TELL ME HOW CAN A GUY GET A HOLD OF THAT
AMPHETAMINE CD IN SANTA CRUZ CA....THANX DUDE BIG FAN..

A: We will have it available on the website soon, we hope. Stay tuned.

Q: Hi Pete. Since you mentioned the possibility of recording a studio album with Paul, why don't you go "all the way" (nice title) and bring in Fin More and do a Waysted album. In a recent interview, Fin said he would love to do it. So would Waysted fans.
Also, there's an excellent US tour happening this summer. The lineup is Thin Lizzy, Angel, Lynch Mob & Bonham. This package tour would be ideal for UFO or Waysted. Get crackin' and get on the road and show the US what real hard rock and roll is.

Cheers, Dixie

A: Sounds like your telepathic. (laughs)

Q: I have photos from a UFO gig, Carlisle Market Hall, Jan '81, there was no back drop...all other gigs/tours around that time had the UFO logo on the back drop. The Market Hall had a nasty chequered wall at the rear of the stage, horrid. I don't recall Chapman being electrocuted?

A: I just remember Paul did get electrocuted. I dont know how it happened. Bad wiring. We had electrical problems all night. It was one of them big ol barn places.

Q: Hi Pete I have been a fan of ufo since about 1976 the first time I saw you guys was at Aylesbury civic your support band was a band called The George Hatcher band...(where did they go?)..but I got hooked on you guys form the first song...

So what was ufo's best selling album to date? Would you like to see your albums get into the charts?

A: I dont know what happened to George. I havent got a clue. Best selling album? Chrysalis and Capitol have kept it a good secret, in case they have to pay us more.

Q: would you like to see Robbie Williams have a big hit with one of ufo's great rock ballads? haha

A: I dont know. I dont care. (does not laugh)

Q: Pete what's the actual phrase that Phil sings in the intro to Rock bottom? Is it 17 a "natures queen" or "natchez queen". I listen to UFO,Waysted, and Michael's stuff 8 hr. A day at work and love all of it, but I just can't figure that one line out, if it is natchez what the heck does that mean. Saw you and Mike in Chicago doing the plot stuff in 01' and loved it,can't wait to buy the CD. Keep the music alive. Jim

A: Phil sings "natures queen." Actually, what he sings depends on what pub he is in at the time (laughs)

Q: Great to see things are moving in all camps now with you and UFO - when do you think UFO will be on the road again and new album out? Where is Phil based? Any chance of some dates in Blighty? Dom

A: Next year actually. The tour at end of of this year beginning of next year. It will happen by the end of this year. You havent got too long to wait. Phil is based in London. Yes of course we hope to return to Blighty.

Q: I am so glad to hear Waysted is back together. What exactly are your summer plans? Will you be recording with UFO and Waysted. Will you also be touring with UFO and Waysted. How would you feel about UFO and Waysted touring together, then you could play all night long? Alex

A: I don't know if I could keep standing all night (laughs) We should be recording Waysted in May and June well be looking at dates. There will be Waysted dates and there will definitely be UFO dates.

Q: Pete, ever think of getting something tattooed on YOUR forehead??? Russ, Little Rock

A: Please dont take me there. Don't even make me think about it.

Q:Your MP3 samples from your upcoming album, "The Plot" are really good. You've got to release this CD, it sounds great! -- BIll, London

A:It is just being released, due to public demand. I will have more news on my site very soon. Click here to read my official statement.

Q:Hello Pete, I have been a fan for many years. Are you recording any of the live dates with Paul Chapman for future CD releases and will you be touring with John Norum in support for the Sharks cd? -- Scott King

A:We plan on professionally recording a live show with Paul Chapman this summer. As for touring to support Sharks, it is too early to say. We might record a new CD first. Everything is in the earilest stages.

Q: Did you have any input into John Norum joining UFO? Did you push for Paul Chapman to be given the spot?? Alex - Buffalo, NY

A: I am not prepeard to make another statement on anything just yet. UFO is still in the early stages of being put back together.

Q: Any chance of getting Paul Raymond or Neil Carter back on keys because although I thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 albums, keyboards were a big part of the classic UFO sound. Anyway thanks for all the great music & memeories. A huge UFO fan! -- Dan MacDonald

A: We never rule anyting out. We aim for the best . The ufo thing is still in its early stages but we assure you its going to be great!!

Q: HI Pete. Any chance of you recording one of the upcoming Chicago area shows with Chapman and releasing it?Will there be more UFO/Waysted songs at these shows? What about Anyday and Cherry? Two great songs to showcase you and Paul. Has there been any discussions with Phil about Chapman being in UFO 2003?

A: We are hoping to record a live show this summer with Paul and maybe also do a studio album. Stay tuned!

Q:What ever happened to Paul Raymond and why wasn't he on Covenant and Sharks? -- Merv, Brantford.ON

A: Let me get back to you on that one. I'll ask Phil.

Q: Hi Pete, how old were you when you first started playing bass. have you played with any local bands before you joined UFO? Who is your favourte all time bass player? -- a died hard Leeds united supporter. -- Ronan Meyler, .dublin ireland

A: I started playing at about age 12. I couldn't play a six string!!! No, UFO was THE local band, under different names. Sid Vicious (laughs) Too difficult to name just one favorite bass player.

Q: Hey man, if you ever need a guitarist, please look me up, I'd love to audition. I live in Wheeling, WV about 2 hours from Columbus. PEACE! -- JIM DOFKA

A: Paul might complain if I use you in the band (laughs)

Q: Q hat is the most embarassing moment for UFO on tour? Any stand out? Also, any great Schenker jokes? You guys had to have some.. I am one of UFO's biggest fans (for 20 years) thanks for the excellent bass. you drive. -- The Codeman

A: The Michael and Phil show in Manchester. No Schenker jokes that I know of. (laughs)

Q: Pete,
1.Do you remember when Paul got eletrocuted at Carlisle Market Hall in the early 80's?

2. What is a Cockney doing supporting the Villa - most of your brethren are Man U supporters (you played them off the park last week) I have ordered a signed copy of Cleveland from your site - keep on rockin, and love to see you back in the UK. -- Keith Harrison, Cumbria England.

A: 1. Yes I do. I still laugh about it today!

2. I bought a house in the Midlands and I had a year off. I stopped touring America. Everyone I met like and were Villa supporters and for the first time I because aaddicted to soccer.

Q: I have been looking for an MPEG or AVI of the Waysted video clip "Love Loaded" for a long time now. Is this available anywhere, to your knowledge???

A: It seems you can get anything on Ebay. We also would love to get a good copy of this video. VH1 classics has been playing it.

Q:Why is Michael Schenker selling some or most of his guitars? I think he has now sold 2-3 flying vs. on Ebay. Why?

A: He wants to buy some new ones??

Q: Hi Pete, what ever happend to Fin from the Waysted daze ? He was a cracking singer, but I ain't heard nuffin of him. -- Johnny Friendly

A: We are still in touch once in a while. Please see the interview on Battttys STIN site to see what FIn is up to.

Q: Are you planning on doing a tour this summer, or are you going to record a new UFO CD with John Norum? What about plans for a UFO tour, now that a guitarist has been announced? Who is going to be the drummer? Keyboards?? Peter Sweeden

Paul and I will be on the road. Can't answer any of the UFO questions just yet but I am looking forward very much to the new UFO. Wish I could say more at this time.

Q: What is your view on the war with Iraq? Ever play a show there? Paul Houston TX

A: It was not as exciting as the World Cup!! I supprt the Britisha and Americans, of course. I did play a show in Tel Aviv but not in Iraq.

Q: Who is the dog I am seeing in a lot of your photos??? Chris - Toronto

A: That's my dog Princess.

Q: I would like to buy a set of cncert photos. you have some great ones on your site. Will they ever be available to buy online? Jimmy -- Stowe, Vermont

A: I guess so... Check the store later we will try to put them up.

Q: When are you going to release the Acoustic Animinal CD? I love the bonus track that you have on your live cd advances. I would love to buy the whole acoustic cd. Pat - Raleigh NC

A: We want people to get over the shock of the live CD first! Soon, due to very high demand, The Plot CD is finally going to come out. Than we plan to release Acoustic Animal. Probably before the end of the year.

Q: Pete, Any chance of Bella Piper ever managing UFO?? Marcie - Los Angeles

A: How on earth could I ever answer that?? Ask Phil Mogg! (Laughs)

Posted February 4, 2003

Q: Do you think it's a good idea if Paul Chapman would join UFO? I would LOVE it. -- Cyril Gauthier

A: I love it because Paul is currently playing with me. He is a great guitar player. What more can I say... At the moment, I am still so happy that I am talking to Phil every day. Exciting things planned for the future.

Q: Hello Pete, What a treat to speak/write to you. I've been a huge UFO fan for many years, The first time I saw you in concert was 1980 at the St.Paul Civic center (great show). I played the bass in a band back in the early 80's and I had to have a Black Thunderbird bass just like you. I hope your still playing Gibson's? It's great to hear your playing with Paul Chapman again. I know Phil is busy with his solo stuff now, but I hope the No Place to Run UFO would get back together. Any chance of that? Great site - hope to see you in Minnesota some time soon -- Steve Byland

A: Yes I do play Gibsons, but at the moment I am really happy with my Ibanez, cause it sounds so big. It is perfect for my 3 piece sound. I would like to use my Thunderbird and probably will, but dont expect to see it on my solo dates. When I asked Gibson for an extra guitar, after smashing one or two on tour, they didnt seem too excited...

Q: 1. Do you think WBA will still be in the premiership next year? 2. Any plans for a biography for either yourself or phill, would be a great read. -- Martyn Phillips, Sutton Coldfield, England

A: 1. I hope so. I want Birminghan City and Weat Brom in the promier league next season, so Villa can kick their ass! My one dream is lookjing forward to Birmingham City coming to Villa Park. I would swap an ounce of Peruvian, but hope they stay up, so Villa can kill them. I will cut off my arms, legs, and other things, if Villa would beat them 25-nill.

2. We are planning on it, but censorship prohibits it. I have too many naked pictures of Phil...

Q: Hello Pete. Over the years UFO. came around the same time as Thin Lizzy. Both bands had great success thru the seventies and early eigthies. Did you ever played a jam with the lizzy boys and what did you think of the late Phil Lynott. Were you good friends with them? keep rockin man. -- Ronan Myler

A: Phil bought me a drink. That made me feel he was a fine man. Actually, since I have been playing bass and singing, I realize how great Phil was. I believe he was one of the greatest song writers of all time. (Dont tell Phil Mogg)

Q: Pete, as with other bands, is there any "Archive" material of UFO ? and if so, any plans to release??? For instance the BBC in concert/simulcast of 1982. I have my personal radio copy (as do many others) which has the FULL length "Rock Bottom" with long echo-y intro. Regards, Steve Cade

A: Give me some and I will release them. I need the money!!!!!!!

Posted January 30, 2003

Q: Hi Pete, like yourself a long suffering Villa fan we've just lost (again) 0-1 to Tottenham. On the local radio,
fans are calling for the heads of manager and chairman. Any thoughts of applying for either job?
All the best,
Tony,Warwick,England.

A: No but I did go to Church! As you can see, the result was beating Middlesbourgh 2-5, so obviously something is happening (laughs). What do you think about a new Icelandic star? A good signing, I hope.

Q: Is there an alternate way of obtaining Pete Way merchandise?
Chris Woosley

A: We are working daily on that to obtain the best online store we can create. We hope it comes online before the next millennium (laughs). Actually, the online store will be in operation starting February 17.

Q: Pete, How do I order the live in Cleveland. I enjoyed the Cleveland show last year. Come back soon.
Mike Palmer - Cleveland

A: The CD will be available for order starting February 17. (Click here for all the details) It will also be available at our next Cleveland gig, February 23 at the Revolution. See the tour dates section of this website for all the details.

Q: Pete. Its very exciting to hear that Michael has stepped aside to allow UFO to be active once again!! Otherwise all us fans would probably never see you again(as UFO).Please, please please say it will be Paul Chapman on guitar when you do decide to tour/record. Anyone else and it just wouldn't be UFO
Merv - Branford, Ontario, Canada

A: This is still up for debate. It is too early to say who will replace Michael. We plan on putting an excellent lineup together as soon as its possible.

Q: I am very excited to hear of the great news. When can we expect to see Paul, yourself and Phil on stage? Would Andy Parker be asked to reconsider? Or are we talking permanent retirement?
Ken (location unknown)

A: UFO news will be on the way, just please be patient. With Andy, that's a difficult one. I do not know how Andy is or who he is playing with, if anybody.

Q: Can I get any Waysted CD's from your online store? I have one - VICES , But I'd like to get the other five.
Tony Miloshewski

A: They should be available when the online store opens February 17, maybe shortly after.

Q: Pete, Any surprises for the first few solo shows with Paul Chapman?
Kevin - Chicago, IL

A: There no surprises when you have such a good time! (laughs) We are looking forward to the acoustic performance at Guitar Center, February 23, and then later in the day, turning it up full blast, non-stop, pedal to the metal rock n roll at the Revolution in Cleveland. We will be recording both shows.

The following messages were posted on 1/14/03

Q: Hi Pete great to hear you have a lot planned for 03. I hope you come back as promised to the UK and finish the tour that was canceled as I had flew over from Ireland like I have done for every UFO tour since 1979. I am fed up with Mister Schenker though and would hope that you and Phil could tour with Paul chapman or Jeff Kollman. Happy new year from Frank in Ireland

A: Its been on my mind since the day I left England. We definitely owe England and I plan on coming over to do some shows as soon as its possible. I have been talking to Paul and who knows, you may see the two of us out on the road this year, sooner than you might think.

Q: Hello, I was just wondering, out of all the places in America to live-why Ohio? Is there a music scene there?

All the best, Frank

A: No, but there's a woman I know! (laughs) -- Rashida!

Q: What UFO material are you playing live with your solo band and do plan on doing a lot of solo shows this year?
Mike Las Vegas

A: I am definitely hoping to have a very busy touring schedule this year. I will have a nice surprise for all UFO fans. There will be a reasonable amount of UFO songs, something for everybody. I am very aware that some of you want UFO and Waysted and will take care of you. The new ALIVE IN CLEVELAND CD has "Lights Out" and "Somethin' Else" and I am sure we will be playing other UFO songs as well. We are eager to spend a lot of time on the road this year. It will be a great time.

Q: I Love the Plot audio on your website! Your new site is fantastic. What made you decide to put together such a large and comprehensive website? Will there be more unreleased audio on the site in the future?

A: It was about time UFO and Waysted fans got something a bit special! I was lucky enough to meet and begin working with Joe Kleon, who recorded, mastered, and helped us mix the ALIVE IN CLEVELAND CD. His website was great, he is a HUGE UFO and Waysted fan, and I was lucky to get him to do the site. He spent many many hours creating it and it is a real labor of love for all involved.. It is amazing!! - exactly the site I have wanted to have for a long time. . We have some serious online treats coming up for you. Also, please email us with any ideas you have.

Q: Have you been in contact with Phil or Michael (or Paul Chapman for that matter) lately and is there any talk of any UFO dates in 2003?

A: There's always talk of UFO dates! (laughs) I am always optimistic. I spoke to Phil last week and also Paul Chapman. We keep in touch. I haven't spoken to Michael recently, but am due to speak to him. We are seldom out of touch.

Q: I see the "Acoustic Animal" page on your discography. How did that come about and when do you plan on releasing it? Ted Seattle

A: We decided to put the ALIVE FROM CLEVELAND electric release out first, as I am always thinking about Acoustic Animal. It is a very thin ice, to put out all acoustic album.. I want it to be seen as cream on the top of the cake, as opposed to what I do. It is just a fun side project that I look forward to sharing with you. We are still perfecting the project and will have more information soon.

Q: If you and Tonka get together, any chance you'll come to play in Wales?

Gary - Wales

A: I will definitely be getting to together with Tonka soon, even if it is on the beach in Florida. I do plan to play with Paul sometime soon, as he is a good friend and I'm sure he would not forgive me if we did not not play in Wales. He is a Welshman through and through.

Q: What is your favorite UFO song?

A: That one is too difficult to answer. We could be here for days!!! (laughs)

Q: Where is the petrol station on No Place...album cover?

A: Its closed now. It was a Kings X station in London. You may notice on the cover that I am kicking Phil's foot, as Andy was moaning about how cold it was during the session. (laughs)

Q: What was the hardest/easiest album to record?

A: The hardest ones are the easiest. Sometimes the easiest are the hardest!! Its difficult to say. I try to enjoy every recording I do. I never think of recording as anything but easy. It is always fun.

The following messages were posted on 12/30/02

Q: Is there a reason that on the latest UFO album, you are dressed in the soccer shirt of Feyenoord Rotterdam? -- Edwin Verschoof

A: I like the shirt!!! I like soccer shirts and have quite a few. Actually, after the photo shoot, I swapped the shirt with the photographer for a Bad Company album!!!!!

Q: The post Schenker UFO is extremely valid material. How do you feel about the music you made with Paul Chapman in the early to mid eighties? It's seems lost in the shuffle. What if anything is being done to compromise with Michael (Schenker) on letting UFO tour without him? That body of music seems lost without some sort of settlement. -- Ken

A: I like that period of UFO, with Paul Chapman. It was a very strong period. Paul is an extremely good player. I would one day like to do that material live, as it still sounds good today. Because of the way things are, we keep our fingers crossed that Michael and UFO can tour together sometime soon. (See next answer)

Q: Pete! Don't you think it's time to reform Waysted with Paul Chapman? -- Dixie

A: I plan to do some things with Paul hopefully next year, maybe some touring together.

Q: Is there any plans to re-release the Waysted CD, SAVE YOUR PRAYERS? -- Duncan Lane

I don't know. Some of the original recordings and demos are available on a CD called Wilderness of Mirrors, which includes a cover of "Fortunate Son", by CCR.

The following questions were posted 12/23/02

Dear Pete,

1) When will the live Pete Way CD from the revolution be coming out?

2) When in 2003 should we be expecting a UFO tour and will it come to Cleveland? I enjoyed your performance in Cleveland.

Mike - Cleveland

1) We are discussing this at the moment and we will let you know as soon as possible of a release date. I am looking forward to everyone hearing it, as it gives a great indication of what the band sounds like live.

2)Not sure about the UFO tour, but be sure that something will happen and news will be coming down the pike on this very soon.

Pete,

I love your new site! I was looking at the stuff on the site about The Plot and am wondering when it is going to come out. In the meantime, can you put some audio from The Plot on your new website?
Bill - St. Louis

The Plot will come out. We had to wait awhile because of the UFO release and my solo release. It will come out eventually. We will post information here on my site as soon as we have it. We are speaking with several record companies right now and hope to have some news on The Plot soon.

Pete,

1) What kind of bass are you using these days? I see the picture of the same bass in the recent pics section of your website, but cant figure out what kind it is. Why the change to this new bass?

2) Did you use it to record Sharks and Amphetamine? If not, which bass did you use to record those albums?

Pat

1) I am using a very good Ibanez bass that they sent me to try out. It has such a big sound. I was so pleased to get the sound I wanted and also the interest Ibanez took in me has been fantastic! I also like the artists that use Ibanez. I like to try out new things and move on with a new sound. This bass guitar very much suits the trio that I am currently playing with. I wanted to use something different for my solo things. Gibson, to be to truthful, has never been very friendly to me.

2) No I used an Epiphone Thunderbird for Sharks and Amphetamine that was personally chosen by Mike Varney.

When is UFO going to again tour the UK? We miss you guys!

Brad

This is something we are talking about all the time. Due to the problems we have had, things have been held up. There is a definite commitment to UFO, from all of us, but we wanted to give a little bit of time, to make sure that when we do tour, the tour gets finished.

Is it difficult to play bass and sing, after so many years just playing bass? How difficult was it to adjust to singing while playing?

Steve

Yes it is! I realize now how much I admire Phil Lynott! Its enjoyable to both sing and play, but given the choice, I have a great time with UFO, just playing bass.

Great new site! I love the live clips from the Cleveland show. Do you plan on doing more acoustic shows, like the one you are doing on the December 19th? What made you decide to do an all acoustic show?

Mark

Thanks! We are very happy with the new site and the reaction has been amazing! We definitely plan on doing some more acoustic shows and also including some acoustic stuff with the electric show, because we believe in trying out new things and doing songs acoustically is an extension of how I write songs. The electric show, being very very loud, is really what I enjoy doing.

Pete: Over the years you have had the pleasure of playing with many great drummers and I'm sure you liked them all but which one did you seem to gel with the easiest, enjoyed the most and why? Thanks, your soccer mate, Dan

I would say playing with Andy Parker was great for me. He is still difficult to replace as we created a style together. Unfortunately Andy does not want to tour etc. anymore but nothing is better than when it comes naturally.

Pete: What's your (got to have it to really rock) favorite Bass and what is it about that guitar that makes you feel that way?
Thanks Pete, and keep rocking, Keith

I like to play a Gibson Thunderbird for the big sound. Although, can you believe I tried a vintage Ephiphone Thunderbird on the new UFO recordings and it was excellent so much that we used it and everybody's been telling me how much they like the sound so its good to ignore the labels and try things out.

Hey Pete: You've played along side some fantastic axe men over the years. I'd like to know what guitar best describes to you that balls to the walls rock sound?
Thanks Pete, a future guitar god, Shane

Obviously Michael is always going to be on top of my list, but you know Paul Chapman always had a big, big sound and of course Angus Young are about the best for me.

OK Pete, we've waited a long time to see you and the UFO boys rock Columbus like we deserve. When will you guys put your problems aside and let the music do the talking like it should here in Columbus, Ohio?

More than just a fan, Tom

We are working on it with a new album we want to play. I really hope that we tour but because we've canceled so many tours it takes a lot of persuasion but I think it will happen this summer.

I thought the Plot was a riot, and I'd love to get the record you made, so what's the deal with that?

THE PLOT ALBUM WILL COME OUT AFTER THE UFO WHICH MY MANAGER AND I ARE DISCUSSING AT THE MOMENT. I AM GLAD YOU LIKE IT. MICHAEL AND I ARE VERY PROUD OF IT AND CANT WAIT TO GET IT OUT.

Also, any more Amphetamine plans/gigs ("crazy" is an all-time fav)?
YES, I AM INVOLVED WITH PUTTING SOME SHOWS TOGETHER AT THE MOMENT, DOING AMPHETAMINE AND PLOT SONGS. LET ME KNOW WHERE YOU THINK I SHOULD PLAY. WE'VE DONE A VIDEO FOR "Crazy" that IM HOPING TO PUT ON DVD.

I heard you did a benefit gig or two in bars a while back, and I'd definitely go to see that. Are there any more lined up?

YES, I DID TWO BENEFIT GIGS FOR VERY GOOD CAUSES. THESE TOOK PLACE IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS AND IN COLUMBUS, OHIO AND IM DEFINITELY DOING MORE ALTHOUGH THEY MIGHT BE FOR MY BENEFIT AS WELL THIS TIME (AS WELL FUN).

Is there any real shot that UFO will tour extensively behind the new record?
WERE TALKING ABOUT IT. THAT IS WHY THE ALBUM HAS BEEN DELAYED.

Do you think we'll get lucky and Martha Stewart will get the death penalty?

NO SUCH LUCK.

Any chance that you'll tour with Phil Mogg and Jeff Kollman in the foreseeable future?

I NEVER SAY NO TO ANYTHING. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

What do you reckon about Savo Milosevic? Will he or won't he?

I DON'T THINK SAVO WILL BE BACK. I CANT SEE HIM IN G.T.S PLANS.

Paul Raymond leaving UFO in 1980 and Leaving Waysted in 83. Did he walk or was he pushed?

IF HE WAS PUSHED IT WASN'T BY ME. I ALWAYS ENJOY WORKING WITH PAUL. I THINK PAUL MAKES HIS OWN DECISIONS.

Waysted, would you consider re-forming Waysted with Paul Chapman during the inactive periods of UFO? Also asking Phil to sing in Waysted. It would be a great side project for all involved (unless Michael owns the Waysted name as well).

I MAY DO SOME PLAYING WITH PAUL CHAPMAN. I OFTEN VISIT HIM IN FLORIDA AND ENJOY HIS COMPANY. I LIKE IT WHEN MUSIC IS FUN. WHAT'S IN A NAME WHEN PHIL WANTS TO SING. HE THINKS ABOUT THE SONGS FIRST. SO YES THAT COULD HAPPEN TOO, BUT MAYBE NOT AS WAYSTED. ITS GREAT JUST TO PLAY LIVE.

Do you think UFO would ever consider wearing KISS like makeup on their next tour?

CANT SEE IT HAPPENING. IT WOULD MEAN WE WOULD HAVE TO GET TO THE SHOW EARLIER.
