Pete talks
about FLYING:
Flying was an interesting album to make. At the time, I just thought I was out of work (and loving it!) and playing concerts at the same time, for two to three thousand people, and earning money too!!! Surely it won't last...
Those were the "acid" days, I guess as much as possible, untill we got bored with it. I was 18 or 19 when we made FLYING. It was recorded in the center of London, Oxford St. etc. That was cool!
We truly tried to be innovative and in many ways I think we were. Rock with an acid flash. It was an hour long, which at the time was great, but we didn't realize that affected the sound level on the pressing. The longer an album gets, the quieter it becomes when pressed. Consequently, it didn't have the power that we wanted.
Still, we tried. It sold well in places that UFO1 had done well in, like Japan, Germany, France, etc.
